Holiday Gift Guide Day 15 - My Little Pony Equestria Dolls

I received a product to review from the above company or their PR Agency. Opinions expressed in this post are strictly my own.

Gift Idea -  My Little Pony Equestria Girl Dolls

When I first saw these in the store, I was intrigued.  I've loved My Little Pony since I was a little girl, and these were My Little Pony but in doll form.  My 7 year old had never seen them either, so we went home and did a little research.  What we found was the My Little Pony Equestria Girls DVD.

DVD Synopsis - When her crown is stolen from the Crystal Empire, Twilight pursues the thief, Sunset Shimmer, into an alternate world where she finds herself turned into…a teenage girl! To regain her crown and return to Equestria, Twilight must learn how to fit into this strange new world and defeat Sunset Shimmer in a competition to become crowned Princess of the Fall Formal at Canterlot High. Luckily, she’ll have the assistance of Spike and five teenage girls who remind her of a certain group of ponies back home.

Suddenly the ponies in doll form made more sense, and of course my girls had to see it.  Of course they loved it, and of course they both wanted one.

It's fairly common practice for a TV show or series to make a new line of toys to go with the movie.  Even though the toys are usually only slightly changed versions, my kids still want them.  I understand why.  They connect with the character in the movie, and want a toy that allows them to act out the movie more completely.  Even though I get their reasoning for the new toy, sometimes as a mom it's hard to buy something so similar to what they already have.  I like the My Little Pony Equestria Girl dolls because they are so unique and are so solely that movie.

To Buy - My Little Pony did a great job reinventing the classic pony to go with the movie.  They are still a high quality product, but with a completely new look and feel.  If your kids are like mine and love products from TV shows/movies, these dolls will not disappoint.

The DVD itself retails for $16.97, and the dolls retail for $12.99 to $24.99.  This is Kik's favorite
