Ultimate Party Meatball recipe from Heinz, Johnsonville, and Ocean spray

Disclosure – I received Heinz, Johnsonville, and Ocean Spray products in exchange for sharing this recipe.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Every few weeks we get together with some friends for family game night.  The location changes, but every so often I find myself cooking for a large group of people.   As much as I would like preparing a fancy meal for them, I never have the time for it.  Instead I focus on ease + tastiness.

So when I was approached and asked if I wanted to try out a simple Ultimate Party Meatball recipe from Heinz, Johnsonville, and Ocean Spray, I thought it sounded perfect.  First of all, it only takes 3 ingredients.  And second of all there are 2 methods of preparation.  One takes a minimum amount of time (15 minutes total), and the other requires almost no work.

So we tried it out.

Ingredients
1 12 oz. bottle of Heinz chili sauce
1 14 oz. can Ocean Spray Cranberry Jelly
1 24 oz package frozen, fully cooked Johnsonville Classic Italian Meatballs

Slow Cooker Preparation
1 – Place Meatballs in a slow cooker
2 – Pour sauces over meatballs
Cover and cook 4 hours on High

Saucepan Preparation
1 – Combine Sauces in a Large Saucepan
2 – Cook over Medium, Low Heat, Stirring Until Smooth
3 – Add Meatballs.  Cover and cook for 15 minutes or until meatballs are heated through, stirring occasionally.

We went with the slow cooker preparation, and I was pleasantly surprised.   We put in the meatballs, dumped in the cranberry sauce and chili sauce.  Turned our slow cooker on high, and 4 hours later it was done.

I was skeptical how cranberry sauce would be when it was used with meatballs.  Sweetness outside of dessert just isn’t my thing.  But combined with the chili sauce, it was just a little bit sweet and a little bit tangy.

It was a hit!  Even my kids ate it.  We served ours over rice for a more complete meal.  But put in a few toothpicks, and it would be a great appetizer.  Next time I plan on trying the spicy version of the frozen sausage to amp up the spice factor!
