Even though Bid's birthday isn't till the end of April, she has been talking about it non stop since Christmas. She's only 3 right now, but she has everything planned till the last detail. In the past we've only had basic family birthday parties for her. We have the family come over, eat a little cake, and if we're feeling adventurous even spring for pizza.
This year, that isn't going to cut it. She is inviting her friends and family. She is sending out invitations and playing games. And she is convinced that everyone is going to attend her birthday in a costume.
When she first told me that she was having a costume party, I thought it was just a whim that she would quickly forget. Not so. She took it upon herself to inform my parents that if they wanted to come to her party this year, they better get their costumes ready. Then she told me that she would be happy to invite me too if I wore a costume.
As I can't really miss her 4th birthday party, the costume hunt begun.
Modesty is key when I am searching for costumes, so I usually don't have much selection. Let's face it, most women's costumes are short and a little bare in the chest area. I was so happy when I saw this fun Red Riding Hood Deluxe Costume on BuyCostumes.com.
The costume features a one-piece, full length, long sleeved dress, and a red knee length cape (velcro closure). even though it looks and sounds perfectly modest on the website, I'm always worried that it won't quite turn out that way. I shouldn't have worried.
The costume fit great! it needs a little ironing, and for me not to wear it with a sweater underneath, but I was cold. My only complaint is that on the corset part of the dress, the string holes don't quite line up. And by don't quite line up, I mean that there were 2 extra holes on one side that kind of threw off the symmetry. Thanks to some clever lacing from my husband, you can't tell at all in the picture.
To Buy - The Red Riding Hood Adult Deluxe Costume retails for $36.99 and is available for purchase on Buycostumes.com
Co thought it was a little strange that I was walking around in a cape, but the costume is really fun. I like that it is completely appropriate to celebrate a 4 year old's birthday party.
