Gift Idea - World Vision

Gift Idea - World Vision

About -This upcoming holiday season, shoppers can reinvent gift lists and join the cause by choosing meaningful, life-changing gifts from the World Vision Gift Catalog. These alternative gift ideas, from goats and chickens to life-saving medicines, honor the recipient and create a lasting impact for people in need. The catalog offers a wide variety of items to match the hobby or interest of the recipient. For example, a gardener may like hybrid or drought-resistant seeds for a farmer while a sports enthusiast could get a kick out of four soccer balls donated to a school.

I've known about this company for awhile, but I've never understood how it worked until this year.  So basically, you pick a gift from the catalog, like this Coffee Set ($50).

You donate $50 or more to their Maximum Impact Fund - which provides for the unique needs of children and families worldwide - and in return you receive a gift partially from the region/area you donated to.  In this case, you receive a Fair-Trade Coffee Set which includes a blend of coffee from Ethiopia, Sumatra, and Costa Rica and is delivered with hand-carved olive wood scoop in a gift bag of African fabric hand-sewn by local women.

Or if you donated $100 to the same fund, you could pick this Artisan Multi-Colored Necklace as the gift.  The necklace itself is a multi-colored, glass beaded necklace that can be worn as a long or short necklace, bracelet or even as a belt.

On the gift page, it tells you exactly what the money from your purchase will be used for.  For example, the proceeds from the necklace will be used to, "Fight human trafficking".  I really like that it says what the money will be used for as it allows the donor to pick causes that mean something to them individually.

If you don't want a gift in return for your money, you can also choose to have all of the money donated to the cause. For example, if you want to donate a Goat ($75) or a Family Food Kit ($16), you don't receive something in return.

To Buy - You can buy all of the above gifts at Gifts start at just $10, and it is even good for kids as you can give them plush gifts for just $25.

I received a product to review from the above company or their PR Agency. Opinions expressed in this post are strictly my own - I was not influenced in any way. I received no monetary compensation for this post.
