Blackberry Playbook review

When I was in high school I was always on the go.  I was on the dance team, and I was the baseball stat keeper.  I was in National Honor Society, on the Yearbook Staff, in AP classes, and numerous volunteer clubs.  Looking back I honestly don't know how I kept everything organized.    I didn't have a planner or anywhere I wrote down my schedule.  I might have forgotten a few things now and again ...

As busy as I was then, I feel like I'm a million times busier now.  Because I'm the mom, I'm responsible for keeping track of everyone's schedules and not just my own.

It's only been a few weeks, but things have been a million times easier since I got a Blackberry Playbook Tablet.

Reason #1 Portability - As a blogger I am always online.  I am always working on posts, checking my email, and coordinating reviews with companies.  But as a mom I am always on the go, driving my kids to and from school and lessons.  It's not really practical to haul my laptop around everywhere I go.  And as a mom I really don't need any more stuff to haul around.

The Blackberry Playbook is a 7 inch tablet that slips perfectly into my bag.  It's smaller, lighter, and comes complete with a soft sleeve for protection.

Reason #2 Convenience - Remember all of those emails and blog posts I mentioned?  The Blackberry Playbook comes equipped with a data center.  There is a word processor and a spread sheet which makes it much easier to budget on the go.

It also has a pretty good camera, which has come in handy during gymnastics lessons.

Reason #3 Sanity - With all of the driving around, comes a lot of waiting around.  And with kids waiting can be very tedious.  A great way to keep them happy and quiet is games.  There are thousands of apps available on the Playbook, and a lot of them are free.  Those free apps have kept me entertained a few times as well.

Reason #4 Ease of Use - The Blackberry Playbook tablet might only be 7", but they did a really good job of maximizing all 7".  The entire front of the tablet is touch sensitive - even the frame.

The toolbars are hidden, which is great because it leaves more usable workspace.  Despite this, it's still easy to navigate.  You can minimize a program just by swiping your finger from the bottom up.  And from there you can either choose to close the program for good or put it on standby.

Reason #5 Internet Features -  The tablet is similar to other tablets, in that it connects to and remembers wifi networks.  But something that is different is that it works with Adobe.  My husbands tablet does not have this feature and a lot of websites don't work quite right - especially if they have videos.  I love that the Playbook has been well equipped to handle all of the websites I've visited.

Another difference is that with the Playbook, websites aren't scaled down versions.  It's the full website.  You can zoom in if you want to focus on one aspect of a page, but you don't have to.

One of my very favorite features about my Playbook is that is syncs yahoo calendar automatically.  Remember my busy schedule?  The Blackberry Playbook has made it a million times easier to stay organized.

Reason #6 BlackBerry Bridge - Since I don't have a smart phone I couldn't try out this feature, but it's definitely worth mentioning.

On its own, the BlackBerry PlayBook is a high performance tablet. But for BlackBerry smartphone users there are additional benefits added to the PlayBook experience, like access to BlackBerry services living on the handheld. Get access to BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), email, calendar, contacts, memo pad, tasks from your BlackBerry smartphone--all on the large display.

To Buy - The Blackberry Playbook (Wi-Fi) can be purchased in16GB, 32GB, or 64 GB.  Prices start at $199 which makes the Playbook much more affordable.  You can check out their where to buy page to see where the different types of Playbooks are available.

The Playbook Package comes complete with  BlackBerry PlayBook 16 GB, USB cable, BlackBerry charger, cleaning cloth, and operating instructions.  You also get 90 days of complimentary technical support.

With all of it's features, the Blackberry Playbook is perfect for an on the go mom like me, a student, or even a business professional.  Love it!

I have a Blackberry phone all ready. This would be so nice. First time I've heard of it, but very interested. Would make a great Christmas gift for my husband.
