The Secret Of The Sacred Scarab eBook Spotlight and Giveaway~!!

The Secret Of The Sacred Scarab

The Story Behind the Book...

Although Fiona Ingram has been a journalist for the last fifteen years, writing a children's book - The Secret of the Sacred Scarab - was an unexpected step, inspired by a recent trip to Egypt. In fact, one could say she owes it all to her mother, who read about a tour to Egypt in a family magazine. Fiona wasn't sure about Egypt because Europe was more to her liking, but her Mother was insistent and so she agreed. They took Fiona's two nephews along for the ride, and they became the "models" for the two young heroes of the book, Justin and Adam Sinclair.

The story of the sacred scarab began life as a little anecdotal tale for her two nephews (then 10 and 12). When they got back to South Africa and had admired the photos and sorted out the souvenirs, Fiona wanted to give them something special so they could remember the trip. She picked up a writing pad and a red ballpoint pen (she remembers the colour so clearly) and thought ... "What's it called?" Then, without even thinking about it, she wrote the title, The Secret of the Sacred Scarab, and the first word, Egypt! The rest just seemed to flow. She used the actual trip as the guideline and tried to incorporate the many unusual things that had happened to them, just infusing them with more sinister meaning. With a black-hearted villain like Dr. Khalid for an arch-enemy, it wasn't too difficult.

 Book Synopsis:
A 5000-year-old mystery comes to life when a scruffy peddler gives Adam and Justin Sinclair an old Egyptian scarab on their very first day in Egypt.

Only when the evil Dr. Faisal Khalid shows a particular interest in the cousins and their scarab, do the boys realize they are in terrible danger. Dr. Khalid wants the relic at all costs.

Justin and Adam embark upon the adventure of a lifetime, taking them down the Nile and across the harsh desert in their search for the legendary tomb of the Scarab King, an ancient Egyptian ruler. With just their wits, courage, and each other, the boys manage to survive … only to find that the end of one journey is the beginning of another!
