Hayneedle Chicco Lullaby LX Play Yard Review and Giveaway
A few months before we had Kik my husband and I went baby shopping for the first time. It was completely overwhelming! There was aisle after aisle of Baby Gear, and I had no idea what we really needed and what would just be a bonus.
We bought the standard baby items, the crib, the rocker, the travel system, etc. and then some extras. If I'm completely honest we didn't always make the best choices. A few times we went with design over function, and have been regretting it for years.
Something that I always wanted, but never bought was a Play Yard. It seemed like it would be nice when we were traveling, but that it would just sit there the rest of the time. So we didn't buy one.
But then I partnered up with Hayneedle for a review and giveaway of the Chicco Lullaby LX Play Yard – Adventure and realized what a huge mistake I had made by not buying one sooner.
The Chicco Lullaby Play Yard came packaged into a convenient carrying case.
I was worried that it would be hard to set up. But all we had to do was pop and lock the bottom and sides of the play yard, and then place the included mattress at the bottom.
And we had a travel crib/contained play area!
My kids were all climbers, and could get out of the crib before they were 2, so I decided to put my 5 year old inside and have my 2 year old outside to see how easy it was to get in to and out of.
I'm happy to report that both of them were stuck!
Next I had my husband set up the bassinet and changing table area. This is where I really fell in love with the play yard!
Earlier I mentioned that we based some of our previous purchases on aesthetics only, and our Crib was definitely one of those things. It's really cute, but when we were shopping I failed to take into consideration that I am not tall and can't reach to lay a baby down on the mattress. Whenever I put one of the girls down to sleep, I had to let them drop the last few inches. And of course they never stayed asleep.
With the bassinet feature this is no longer a problem! The bassinet is deep enough to be safe, but shallow enough that I can put the baby down without making them flop.
Also during our original shopping experience we decided that we didn't need a changing table. As a result, I've been kneeling down on the floor changing diapers for the last 5 years. The month after I had both girls and this whole pregnancy the kneeling down thing has been a real challenge for me. For some reason the fluids that they pump into you during delivery make my legs incredibly swollen - as in my knees down become a solid brick, and I cannot physically get down on the floor. I am so grateful that with this baby I'll have a changing table on hand, and I won't have to kneel to change diapers!
To Buy - I really wish I had bought one of these 5 years ago. It would have made life with a new baby so much easier!
