I loved the American Girl Books when I was little, and my absolute favorite American Girl was Samantha. My friend had the doll and a lot of the furniture, and I absolutely loved how fancy and proper everything was.
I also really love the Samantha: An American Girl Holiday movie that went along with the books.
Samantha is an orphan that is being raised by her prim and proper Grandmary in the early 1900's. Her life changes for the better when she meets Nellie O'Malley, the servant girl next door.
The movie explores the girls different worlds and features a collection of life-altering experiences that help cement the girls friendship together.
I love that the movie teaches a valuable lesson about love and friendship while staying true to Samantha's character as an American Girl. My daughter is a little bit young to completely understand the movie, but she does understand best friends and families and was so happy that both girls ended up with happy.
