The Ruins of Gorlan by John Flanagan

The Ruins of Gorlan (The Ranger's Apprentice, Book 1) by John Flanagan

When I first came across this book I didn't think it looked too promising. I decided to read it one day and I couldn't put it down. I just loved the story and characters. I have recommended this book to many people and always with the same results. They love it! It is very clean and appropriate for younger readers. There is some fighting, but it is pretty tame. I think this book was so enjoyable because the characters are believable and you see them grow and change throughout the book. I will continue to recommend this book to anyone.

Will and the other orphans of Redmont will soon be apprenticed and begin their careers. Will hopes to train as a knight, but he is instead apprenticed to the mysterious ranger, Halt. As Will learns what it means to be a ranger, he faces challenges that will lead him to the toughest choice of his life.
